Few things are as relaxing as watching the moon shimmer across the ocean. This elegant layered candle recreates that peaceful scene with a sparkling blue gel wax base, creamy EcoLux wax top, and the fresh coastal scent of Beachy Vibes Fragrance Oil.

Whether you’re decorating a beach house, making gifts, or adding something special to your candle collection, this design is surprisingly simple to create.

Supplies

  • Vogue Vessel
  • Penreco Gel Wax
  • EcoLux Wax
  • Beachy Vibes Fragrance Oil
  • Blue Wax Dye
  • Teal Wax Dye
  • Two HTP Wicks (appropriately sized for your vessel)
  • Wick Stickers
  • Wick Bars
  • Thermometer
  • Heat Gun (optional)

Step 1

Secure both HTP wicks in the centre of your Vogue vessel using wick stickers and wick bars.

Step 2

Melt the gel wax slowly according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Add a tiny amount of blue and teal dye until you achieve a soft ocean-inspired colour. Less is more. The transparency of the gel is what creates the beautiful water effect.

Step 3

Mix in Beachy Vibes Fragrance Oil at the recommended fragrance load for gel wax and stir gently to minimize bubbles.

Step 4

Pour the gel wax into the vessel to create the bottom layer. Allow it to cool completely before continuing.

Step 5

Melt the EcoLux wax and add the appropriate amount of Beachy Vibes Fragrance Oil.

Allow the wax to cool to your preferred pouring temperature before carefully pouring it over the fully set gel layer.

Step 6

Allow the candle to cure before trimming both wicks to approximately ¼ inch.

Light both wicks and enjoy the warm glow reflecting through the translucent gel layer, creating the illusion of moonlight dancing across the water.

Pro Tip

For the clearest gel wax, heat slowly and stir gently to reduce trapped air bubbles. A quick pass with a heat gun can also help remove surface bubbles for a crystal-clear finish.
