How-to Make a Candle Martini

Here's what you'll need:

Coco Apricot Wax - You can use a different container wax, but I like this one because its a one-pour wax that sets quickly ensuring the colour of your sprinkles don't fade.

Candy thermometer - This is used to measure the temperature of your wax. Alternatively, you can purchase a wax melter specifically for candles and set the desired temperature.

ECO Wick 12 - Again, you can substitute with any kind of wick, including a wooden wick, but I found the ECO 12 to be the right size for my martini glass.

Wick stickers - Wick stickers are used to secure your wick to the bottom of your glass

Wick setter  - A wick setter will hold you wick in place while you pour the wax, and while it cures.

Wick trimmers - Wick trimmers are used specifically for cutting candles wicks with ease.

Kissed Caramel Bourbon Fragrance Oil - I didn't show this in the video, but I added this sumptuous fragrance oil making my party in a glass candle truly intoxicating.

Martini Glass - Normally when one chooses a martinin glass you want something thin and elegant, but for this candle, go with a thicker glass to make sure it can withstand the heat. You can also opt to use a vessel specifically for candle making. Same fun look - just a different shape!

MOD Podge - Say it with me, "MOD Podge." When I released this video I mistakenly thought the product was called "Modge Podge," which set off a fantastic debate between viewers about the correct name of the product. I believe I wrote "I was today years old when I discovered that the true name of this product is MOD Podge" about 20 times.

Sprinkles - Yes, in the video I used your run of the mill candy sprinkles, but to you purists out there, there are wax sprinkles available for purchase. I am providing a link to both the candy kind and the wax kind.

Paint brush - Small paint brush

Instructions:

  1. Attach a wick sticker to your wick and then place at the bottom of your martini glass/vessel.
  2. Paint the inside of your martini glass/vessel with Mod Podge. Allow to get tacky for about one minute
  3. Pour in your sprinkles liberally covering all the are you painted with Mod Podge. The more, the better!
  4. Melt your wax in a double boiler or wax melter to the temperature specified by the instructions.
  5. Remove from the heat and add fragrance oil at this step. Stir for two minutes to allow fragrance oil to bind to the wax.
  6. Place a wick setter across the top of your martini glass/vessel to keep you wick in place while the candle sets.
  7. Pour the wax and wait for your candle to set.
  8. Remove your wick setter and trim your wick.

For best results, wait at least 72 hours before lighting your candle.
