Bring a Tropical Escape to Your Candle Collection

If you’ve ever wished you could capture the feeling of a warm beach vacation inside a candle, this project is for you. Our Pink Ocean Candle combines sparkling crystal-clear gel wax, soft pink tropical tones, real seashells, and a relaxing beach fragrance to create a candle that looks as beautiful as it smells.

The best part? It’s surprisingly simple to make.

Supplies You’ll Need

  • Gel Wax
  • Ruby Red Wax Dye Chips
  • Beach Tease Fragrance Oil
  • iLite Straight-Sided Glass Vessel
  • HTP Wick (sized appropriately for your vessel)
  • Wick sticker
  • Clean decorative sand
  • Small wax seashells and a wax starfish
  • Double boiler or wax melter
  • Thermometer

Step 1: Prepare Your Vessel

Clean your iLite vessel thoroughly to remove fingerprints or dust.

Secure your HTP wick in the center using a wick sticker and hold it upright with a wick centering bar.

Step 2: Create the Beach Floor

Add a thin layer of decorative sand to the bottom of the vessel.

Arrange your seashells and starfish naturally on top of the sand. Try not to make everything perfectly symmetrical. Nature rarely is, and the candle will look much more realistic.

Step 3: Melt the Gel Wax

Heat the crystal gel wax slowly.

Avoid stirring aggressively, as this can introduce unnecessary air bubbles.

Step 4: Add Colour

Tint the gel wax with a small amount of Ruby Red Wax Dye Chips.

You’re looking for a vibrant tropical pink that still allows light to pass through. Gel wax always looks slightly darker in the melting pot than it will once poured.

Step 5: Add Fragrance

Mix gently and thoroughly so the fragrance disperses evenly throughout the gel.

The result is a candle that not only looks like a tropical getaway but smells like one too.

Step 6: Pour Slowly

Pour the gel wax slowly down the inside of the glass.

A slow pour helps minimize bubbles while keeping the shells beautifully visible.

If a few tiny bubbles remain, don’t worry. In ocean-themed candles they actually add to the underwater effect.

Step 7: Allow to Cool

Leave the candle completely undisturbed while it cools.

Gel wax takes longer than most natural waxes to fully set, so patience pays off.

Once hardened, trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch (6 mm).

Styling Tips

Want your candle to look even more luxurious?

  • Display it on a woven natural placemat.
  • Add tropical flowers nearby.
  • Use soft warm lighting.
  • Pair it with beach décor like driftwood or coral.

A simple photo setup can make a handmade candle look like it belongs in a luxury boutique.

Fragrance Profile

Beach Tease captures everything we love about summer.

Think warm sunshine, salty ocean air, soft tropical florals, and relaxing beach days. It’s the perfect fragrance for anyone dreaming of a seaside escape.

Safety Reminder

  • Discontinue use when approximately ½ inch (12 mm) of wax remains.
  • Always burn on a heat-resistant surface.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
